In general, we recommend regular checkups every 6 months. However, intervals vary from case to case. Fillings repair small cavities that may be limited to tooth enamel or may extend into the dentin. If these cavities are not filled, the tooth will decay further. It is then, when the cavity is deeper, that you will begin to feel pain and may eventually require a root canal treatment, which is much more significant. By this we mean that, although you may not feel pain at the moment, it is best to repair these cavities as soon as possible. Veneers and crowns are similar restorations, but they differ in the areas of the teeth they cover. A veneer is a very thin shell bonded to the front of the tooth, while a crown covers the entire tooth. You may need a crown due to the amount of natural tooth loss or discoloration. During your first visit, your general and oral health will be assessed. A complete orofacial examination will be performed, in addition to addressing any specific needs you may have at that time\u2014your reason for the visit. Photographs of your teeth will be taken to better show you what you may need and as a record for monitoring them. In other words, having the photographs allows us to compare them over time (months or years) and see what changes have occurred. Any necessary radiological tests will also be taken; however, if you have any recent ones, please bring them with you. With all this information, your diagnosis, the causes, and how to prevent their worsening will be explained. You will be given instructions on oral hygiene and how to care for your health at home. Finally, treatment options will be discussed with you, with the pros and cons explained and any questions answered. The first day, depending on the case, can be very information-intensive.   • You were recommended a more suitable alternative treatment, and you opted for another one.<\/span><\/li>
  • In the case of dental implants, if you were recommended additional therapy before implant placement, and you chose not to have it.<\/span><\/li>
  • If you need a replacement as a result of trauma or accident beyond our control.<\/span><\/li>
  • If it is not appropriate to replace it with the same treatment option.<\/span><\/li>
  • If you have received additional treatments on that tooth since your initial treatment.<\/span><\/li>
